I do believe that every county and town has a right to decide what is legal in its borders, just like how Colorado made the decision to make marijuana legal. However, state borders are much more defined and clear than county and town borders. I think it would be better for everyone if marijuana was legal in the same way all across Colorado so there are not “border” issues.
For example, marijuana that is legal in Durango would not be legal in Bayfield, even though they are in the same county. The thing is that most people are not even aware of the difference of laws in their county alone. This could definitely create legal issues for ignorant marijuana users.
I do not think that every town needs to allow recreational or medical shops necessarily, but I do think that the possession and usage laws should be the same as the state laws. If the law was the same across the entire state, there would be little confusion for Colorado residents as well as out-of-state visitors.
