Then visitors got to bid on a big assortment of homemade pies and other desserts. Ron Dunavant served as auctioneer. He assured bidders that the “Colorado brownies” did not contain any of the herbal product that has become legal for adults in the state. Instead, they were a smaller version of a Texas chocolate sheet cake.
La Plata County Fair Royalty carried the goodies around for prospective bidders.
The event was held at the Bayfield Church of Christ on the east end of Bayfield Parkway.
The society’s museum will open in downtown Bayfield on Memorial Day and remains open through Bayfield Heritage Days on Sept. 25-26.
