April is here, and that also means local spring sports teams are entering the heart of their seasons.

This month is the lone month in the spring sports season where teams will have games from the start to the end. Teams can put a tough March start behind them and find their footing in league play. Other teams can look to build on great starts against league foes and try and continue to move up in the playoff rankings before the home stretch of the season in May.

Many local teams are on the road this week, but Durango High School tennis, baseball, Fort Lewis College cycling and lacrosse are highlights at home.

An important note is this will be the last local sports schedule coming out on Wednesday, with the future editions coming out in the new Monday edition of The Durango Herald.
