May madness is here for high school and college sports postseason play, and like March Madness, it goes by fast.
In the last week, the Durango High School girls soccer and girls lacrosse seasons have ended. The high school baseball regular season is over and postseason play is here. So is postseason track and field. Durango’s baseball team will host a regional at the end of this week as a big highlight of the local sports schedule.
Spring sports are also still going on up at Fort Lewis College. A few members of the outdoor track and field team will compete in the outdoor track and field national championships in Kansas, starting at the end of the week.
There aren’t many local sports schedules left before a big break until the fall, so take advantage of the good weather and see some local teams finish their seasons strong.

Saturday: Track and field at Division II outdoor track and field national championships in Emporia, Kansas
Sunday: Track and field at Division II outdoor track and field national championships in Emporia, Kansas
Thursday: Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio track and field at track and field state championships in Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood
Friday: Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio track and field at track and field state championships in Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood
