The live music composed by Jeroen van Tyn created a sonic landscape that seamlessly underscored the kinesthetic and poignant ideas of the work, giving wings to extremely accomplished dancers: Talia Bamerick, Anne Bartlett, Katie Clancy, Nanette Cresto, Chrissy Mosier, Jen Painter and Jessica Perino. Every single moment of the performance was committed, authentic and heartfelt. The performers evenly shared their personal and collective journeys through an articulately honed balance of improvised and devised movement and sound that was formal and abstract.
I believe the most powerful performance begins when the curtain closes. Twenty Moons successfully achieved powerful art as their performance is still resonating for me, and I’m sure still resonating in the minds and hearts of the people who had the opportunity to be there. Durango is so very fortunate to have these performance artists in our community and will hopefully embrace and support future projects of these amazing artists.
