Colorado State University football fans and alumni will watch the CSU Rams play the University of New Mexico Lobos on Saturday at Mountain Madness Brewing Co., 1644 County Road 203.

Blood-sugar regulation to be discussed Tuesday
Herbalist Marija Helt will offer a class at 6 p.m. Tuesday on natural support for blood-sugar regulation.

Free lunch available to veterans Monday
The Veterans Committee at the Elks Lodge will host a free lunch for veterans at the lodge, on the corner of East Second Avenue and Ninth Street, after the 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 11 Veterans Day Parade.
The committee also will have a float in the parade. The parade will travel north along Main Avenue.
Applications accepted for gardener program
The Colorado State University Extension Office in La Plata County is accepting applications for the 2014 Colorado Master Gardener program until Dec. 13.
Students will receive training in tree care, vegetables, soils, native plants, water wise gardening, pruning and more. The training uses onsite and distant education experts. The 11-week series will start Jan. 23 and will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. The cost is $275 if people intend to volunteer, $625 for a certificate without volunteer time. Either option also includes a copy of the textbook, The Science of Gardening. The training is the equivalent of a four-credit hour course. Volunteers are expected to complete 50 hours of volunteer time in the first year and 24 hours in subsequent years.
