The Colorado Department of Transportation has a single lane closed on U.S. Highway 550 on Bondad Hill that will remain closed until a large boulder can be blasted and removed from the hillside, which is anticipated to take place Monday, weather permitting.
At midday Monday, traffic will be fully stopped in both directions for more than 30 minutes while blasting takes place, debris is cleared and the work area is cleared for safety. Delays will continue while traffic queues are cleared in both directions. Until 3 p.m. after the blasting, there are likely to be traffic delays as more debris is hauled away.
CDOT will update this schedule at www.cotrip.org.

Durango Rotary Club will meet Tuesday
Byron Kellogg of the newly formed Solarize La Plata campaign will present to the Rotary Club of Durango at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
With the Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency behind it, the campaign’s goal is to encourage people to install solar panels on their homes or businesses, which would be connected to the La Plata Electric Association power grid. Using special LPEA meters, when solar power is being added to the grid then the meter would run backwards reducing the customer’s electric bill. Kellogg is a retired civil engineer from the Bureau of Reclamation. Visitors are welcome.
