Trails 2000, Mountain Bike Specialists and Maria’s Bookshop will offer the gift of a Trails 2000 membership beginning on Noel Night, Friday through Dec. 24.
People can purchase a Trails 2000 membership, with a gift bag, gift certificate, local maps and more, available at Mountain Bike Specialists, 949 Main Ave., or Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave. Anyone who purchases a membership gift is eligible to be entered into a drawing to win a “swag bag.”
The drawing will take place at noon Dec. 24, the last day the membership gift is available for purchase,
Negotiations scheduled on Florida Project
The Bureau of Reclamation and the Florida Water Conservancy District will initiate negotiations for a proposed long-term water service contract for the Florida Project near Durango.
The first meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bureau of Reclamation, Western Colorado Area Office, 185 Suttle St., Suite 2, in Durango.
The contract will provide terms and conditions for the proposed use of Florida Project water for municipal, industrial and other miscellaneous uses. All negotiation meetings are open to the public, and the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments during a 30-minute comment period after the session.

Plant-a-Tree program available
A donation to the U.S. Forest Service Plant-a-Tree Program is a holiday gift idea.
For a donation of $20, the giver receives a certificate on behalf of a person or family, and 10 seedlings are reserved to reforest a burned area in San Juan National Forest.
This year’s donations will go toward a reforestation project scheduled for spring 2015 in the area burned by the Missionary Ridge Fire around Vallecito Reservoir.
Donations can be made in person by cash, check or credit card at San Juan National Forest offices. Credit card donations also can be made over the phone, or checks can be mailed to San Juan National Forest Plant-A-Tree Coordinator, 15 Burnett Court, Durango, CO 81301.
Checks should be made payable to USDA Forest Service, with “Plant-A-Tree, San Juan National Forest” noted in the memo portion of the check. Contributions cannot be refunded.

Conservation district to discuss solar issues
La Plata Conservation District will hold its annual landowners meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room of the La Plata Electric Association office, 45 Stewart St. in Bodo Industrial Park.
One of the topics will be “Solar has never been more affordable” with presentations from LPEA and Solarize, and solar users discussing their experiences. Other topics will include: seedling availability, stream restoration and district update. Feedback will be solicited from land owners.
