A fundraiser for the Mitrata Children’s Home will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Himalayan Kitchen, 992 Main Ave.
The event will feature a buffet dinner. Tickets are $40 per person in advance or $50 at the door.
All money raised will go to the children’s home.
Contributions will provide a safe home environment, access to medical care, school tuition, and cultural instruction in arts, music and dance.

Farmer’s market to take place Dec. 14
The December Durango Farmers Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 2500 Main Ave.
An Old English Holiday theme will present local farmers and artists, plus area children’s choirs, The History Alive group, will be at the event in historical costumes.
An Old English lunch will be available for purchase, prepared by chef Jill Southworth.
Durango bird walk to be held Saturday
A bird walk will be hosted by the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory at 9 a.m. Saturday at For the Birds, 1560 East Second Ave.
The walks last about one hour and 15 minutes. Bring binoculars. The walks are free, but donations to the hosting group are welcome.

Scottish dancers to present concert
The Durango Scottish Dancers will present Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and cellist Natalie Haas in concert at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
The cost is $20 for general admission and $10 for students. Tickets are available in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/498558.
Also, the Fort Lewis College Music Department and The Durango Scottish Dancers will offer a musician’s workshop with Fraser and Haas from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 in Jones Hall at FLC. Students are free, and the cost for nonstudents is $25. The workshop is geared toward strings but other instruments will be welcome.
