A bird walk will be hosted by the Durango Bird Club at 9 a.m. Wednesday at For the Birds, 1560 East Second Ave.
The walks last about one hour and 15 minutes. Bring binoculars. The walks are free, but donations to the hosting group are welcome.

Blood drives scheduled Mercy medical center
The Bloodmobile will be parked from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday in the lot by the Healing Gardens located by the entrance to the cafeteria at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
A blood drive also will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in Conference Room A beside the cafeteria at Mercy.
Every donor will receive a $5 gift card to the Merciful Mug at the main entrance to the hospital and will be entered in a drawing. The winner of the drawing will receive a gift certificate for lab tests valued at $55. Donors now can do a health interview before the appointment by visiting www.unitedbloodservices.org and clicking on “health history.” It has to be done the same day as the donation. Participants should print out the “fast track ticket” and bring it to the appointment.

Benefit breakfast set at Bayfield preschool
“Breakfast with Santa” will be held on Dec. 14 at the Bayfield Elementary School gym, 24 Clover Road in Bayfield.
Bayfield Early Education Program will provide a breakfast buffet including crafts and activities for the kids, silent auction and pictures with Santa. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children ages 3-12. All proceeds benefit Bayfield Early Education Programs (BEEP).

Artists to host craft bazaar in Arboles
Independent Artists of Arboles will host a craft bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Tiffany, Allison, Rosa and Arboles (TARA) Community Center, 333 Milton Road in Arboles.

Documentary screening planned Monday at FLC
The Divest Fort Lewis Now for Fossil Fuels campaign and the Sociology Club will host a special documentary screening of “Can We Save Planet Earth” at 7 p.m. Monday in 125 Noble Hall at Fort Lewis College.
After the screening, Michaela Steiner will host a workshop on grassroots organizing. Divest Fort Lewis Now from Fossil Fuels has made presentations to the faculty Senate and President’s cabinet and have a meeting with the Board of Trustees scheduled for February.
Rotary Club of Durango to meet Tuesday
The Rotary Club of Durango will welcome the Durango High School Colours group, which will sing holiday cheer songs at the club’s meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Colours is a select choir of highly motivated students that excel in vocal performance. In addition to performing at the high school, the group sings throughout the community and at festivals. Visitors are welcome.
