The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners has extended the deadline to Jan. 3 for interested people to serve on these county boards and commissions: Board of Adjustment; Board of Appeals; Citizens Review Panel for Child Welfare Grievances; Community Corrections Board; Durango Hills Road Improvement District Board; Durango Public Library Board; Durango-La Plata Airport Commission; Extension Advisory Board; Fire Code Board of Appeals (fire protection engineer professional and industrial safety professional); Historic Preservation Review Committee; Ignacio, Allison, Oxford Cemetery District Committee; Ignacio Community Library District Board; Lake Durango Water Authority (non-customer of water authority); Living with Wildlife Advisory Board; Lodging Tax Panel; Long Term Finance Committee; Pine River Cemetery District Committee; Planning Commission; Southwest (Region 9) Workforce Board; and Undesirable Plant & Rodent Advisory Commission.

Cow-elk tag to be given away
Southern Ute Community Action Programs, Inc. is giving away a cow-elk tag with the value of $150.
The hunt dates are Jan. 11 through 19 on the Sandoval/Mesa Hunt Unit/Southern Ute Tribal Land. A guide is not provided but optional for a fee. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the SUCAP Central Administration, 285 Lakin St. in Ignacio. The drawing will take place Jan. 8. The winner must attend the mandatory orientation at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at the multipurpose building by Ute Park in Ignacio. The winner must be 12 or older to hunt; people 18 and younger must have a parent/guardian accompany them. People ages 12 to 21 need a Hunter Safety Card. Proceeds will fund the new SUCAP Childcare Center. The permit was donated by the Southern Ute Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division.

Advantage hosts blanket, coat drive
Advantage Physical Therapy & Wellness, P.C., 3600 Main Ave., Suite A, will hold its eighth annual Advantage Blanket and Coat Drive through Dec. 31 benefiting the Durango Community Shelter and the Southwest Safe House.
