The Fort Lewis College Physical Plant will burn landscape debris on Monday and Tuesday.

During that time, a plume of smoke may be seen coming from campus.

The fire will be monitored while it is burning, and Durango Fire & Rescue Authority has been notified.

Square dance classes available

San Juan Square Dance Club of Durango’s Friday Night Square Dance classes will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

Dancers will learn five new calls weekly. The caller will be Richard Berry, who has more than 30 years experience. The calls will progress in complexity.

The classes on Jan. 3 and 10 are free.

The cost for each dance will be $3.50 per person.

Winter Solstice potluck to be held today

The Pine River Shares Winter Solstice Potluck will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Old Mid School Gym, 658 S. East St. in Bayfield.

Set-up and drop-off will take place from 3 to 4 p.m.; dinner will be from 4 to 6 p.m.; and clean-up will be from 6 to 7 p.m. The event will include a kids’ toy exchange (bring one, take one); and kids’ can pick a present for their parents.

Participants should bring their own plates and silverware, and fresh canned and packaged food to share.
