The 2014 Safe Food Handler training classes will take place from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17, March 13, May 15 and Aug. 21 in the Extension Building of the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

This is a one-day course for food service workers that covers the basic requirements for safe food handling.

The classes will cover these topics: preventing food borne illness, food temperature control, personal hygiene, preventing cross contamination, preparing/serving food safely and procedures for cleaning and sanitizing.

Each class costs $30 per person.

Attendees will receive a Food Safety Works Manual and a Food Safety Works Wallet Card.
