Durango Public Library will host an encore screening and discussion of “Durango and Abu Dhabi: A Cross-cultural Exchange” from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 14 at 1900 East Third Ave.
The film by Kim Martin is about modern Middle Eastern women.
This film, presents several women from Durango asking questions of women in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, about their loves, values and opinions.
The intent of the film is to provoke conversation and address damaging misconceptions about the Middle East. This event is sponsored by the Great Decisions Forum Policy Discussion Program, which is hosted by the League of Women Voters.

Medicare supplement class available Monday
A free medicare supplement class will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Pine River Valley Bank, 1701 Main Ave.
The same seminar will be presented Jan. 20 at the same time and place. People are asked to call and reserve a seat on either of those days. Seating is limited to 15. People who are turning 65, children of seniors, medicare disabled or healthy senior citizens are invited.
Participants are asked to bring questions.

La Plata County to host public hearing
The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the adoption of regulations governing the construction of cell towers and other telecommunications facilities at 10 a.m. Jan. 7 in the meeting room at the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 East Second Ave.
Interested members of the public are encouraged to attend.

Beginning beekeeping classes to be offered
Four Corners Beekeepers Association announces that it will host beginning beekeeping classes from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 11, 18 and 25 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Hall, 2500 Main Ave.
Pre-registration is requested. The cost is $40 for all three sessions.
Classes also will be held in Cortez and Farmington.
