The La Plata County Motor Vehicle Division in both Durango and Bayfield as well as the Bayfield Clerk and Recorder’s Office will have new office hours beginning Tuesday.
Durango Motor Vehicle Division, 98 Everett Street, Suite A, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Bayfield Motor Vehicle Division and Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 1199 Bayfield Parkway, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The changes will ensure adequate time to complete the day’s transactions by 5 p.m. Residents may renew their vehicle registration online at www.colorado.gov/renewplates. The online renewal service does include a nonrefundable Portal Administration Fee of 2.70 percent of the total transaction amount if paid by credit card, or $1 per transaction if paid by e-check. If the registration renewal requires proof of insurance, if there is a change of address or if the registration is late, renewals cannot be completed online.

Republican Women to host book discussion
Southwest Republican Women will hold a book club discussion on Mark Levin’s The Liberty Amendments at noon Jan. 21 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
Members and guests are welcome for this review of the Article V process to amend the Constitution.

Snowdown coordinators to host party Jan. 22
Snowdown Durango will host the 2014 Snowdown Safari So Good Event Coordinators Party at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at The Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave.
The media is invited to meet the 2014 Snowdown Safari So Good Event Coordinators and preview 30-second commercials from new Snowdown events scheduled for this year’s festivities. Snowdown will include 146 events from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2.
University Women group to be discussed
National American Association of University Women Executive Board member and Denver Businesswoman Amy Blackwell will give a presentation at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Vallecito Room at Fort Lewis College.
Her presentation will cover the opportunities offered by the association to the students and faculty of association partner institutions and to members and student members. Blackwell owns and operates a marketing and communications company, Blackwell Communications LLC., and has served in positions of leadership in association national, state and branch organizations. She is a member of the AAUW Colorado eNetwork (CO) Virtual Branch. She is a certified facilitator of the $tart$mart workshops, which helps young women who are entering the work force to learn the art of negotiating salaries. An informal gathering with Blackwell will take place at The Lost Dog Bar & Lounge after the presentation. All with an interest in higher education are invited.
