Rotary Club of Durango to meet Jan. 28
Kari Plante, regional oral health specialist at San Juan Basin Health, will discuss the Colorado Oral Health Plan and the state of oral health in La Plata County to the Rotary Club of Durango at its meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has identified oral health as one of 10 winnable battles to improve public health and environment in the state. Plante is working with Citizen’s Health Advisory Council to develop a dental coalition in the county to address gaps in meeting the dental health needs of vulnerable populations. Documentary film to be screened Feb. 11
La Plata County Thrive! Living Wage Coalition will host a free screening of “Inequality for All” at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 in Room 130 of Noble Hall at Fort Lewis College.
The documentary was made by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. The film is an expose on the nation’s widening economic gap. The documentary will be followed by a discussion led by FLC associate professor John Baranski. There also will be information about the local living wage initiative in La Plata County.

HEARTBEAT, suicide support group to meet
Support for people who have lost loved ones to suicide, HEARTBEAT is an international support group for individuals who have lost friends, family or co-workers to suicide.
Durango’s HEARTBEAT meets from 6 to 8 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 142 Sheppard Drive.
