CDOT to host telephone town hall April 2
The Colorado Department of Transportation will host an interactive telephone town hall from 7 to 8 p.m. April 2.
The purpose of the meetings is to hear from people about their transportation needs and priorities and answer questions
The telephone town hall will be automatically calling a sizeable number of people in this transportation planning region. People who receive a call, should stay on the line and they will be connected to the meeting automatically.
People who don’t receive a call but want to participate, call (877) 229-8493, PIN 112034. A number of transportation experts will be answering questions, including representative on the Colorado Transportation Commission, and people from CDOT.

Canyons alliance to host celebration April 5
Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance invites people to celebrate its First Birthday from 3 to 6 p.m. April 5 at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, 23390 Road K, Cortez.
The celebration will include: “State of the Alliance” and the year ahead; snacks and beverages; silent auction including guided tours, Southwest art, and vacation packages; and Dr. John Kessell, will present his most recent work, Miera y Pacheco: A Renaissance Spaniard in Eighteenth Century New Mexico.

DHS Troupe 1096 to host benefit gala
The Durango High School’s Troupe 1096 benefit gala will take place April 4.
DHS theatre students are fundraising a trip to the National Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Neb. The event will feature tapas and a show with performances from the highest scoring students from state who will be going to the Nationals to compete, audition for colleges, and participate in workshops.

Landscape design to be discussed Saturday
A free class, “Basics of Landscape Design,” will take place at noon Saturday at Native Roots Garden Center, 26266 U.S. Highway 160.
Kevin Robel, a professional landscaper with 35 years experience, will lead students through the basics of site analysis, hardscaping and plant placement.

Durango library to be closed April 1
Durango Public Library will be closed Tuesday for an upgrade to its critical computer systems.
The library encourages people to not return library materials that day. Library online resources and the website will be down. Wi-Fi will not be available during the closure. Meetings scheduled at the library will be held. The public is encouraged to use the Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside branches, which will be open from 2 to 7 p.m. The library plans to reopen at 9 a.m. April 2.
