CSU Extension offering backyard food class

CSU Extension in La Plata County will offer Backyard Food Production, a series of 12 evening classes designed to help people grow and preserve more food.

The classes are held throughout the growing season, from 6 to 8 p.m. starting April 29 and ending in September at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave. In addition to the April 29 class, there will be three classes in May, two in June, two in July, two in August and one in September.

Participants will learn how to grow their own food – from design and seed starting to harvest, storage and preservation. All classes are taught by local experts.

Space is limited, so RSVP is needed as soon as possible, which will allow for planning of folders and accommodations. The cost is $145 for the entire course.

For more information, call Darrin Parmenter at 382-6464 or email [email protected].
