The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will accept public comment on proposed Ordinance 2014-02 that will regulate and allow for licensing of all marijuana businesses allowed for under Amendment 64.
County commissioners have performed a first reading of the ordinance that will adopt Code Amendments to Chapter 7 of the county code regulating and allowing for the licensing of all medical marijuana businesses allowed for under Amendment 20, including medical marijuana centers, medical marijuana optional premises cultivation and operations, and medical marijuana-infused products manufacturers.
The ordinance also will regulate and allow for the licensing of all retail marijuana establishments authorized under Amendment 64, including retail marijuana stores, retail marijuana cultivation facilities, retail marijuana products manufacturing and facilities, as well as retail marijuana testing facilities.
The ordinance includes restrictions on the personal cultivation of marijuana and will rescind the ban on medical marijuana centers and the temporary ban on all retail marijuana establishments.
A second reading and possible vote on the ordinance is scheduled for June 10.
Information on the ordinance and draft regulations are available at www.co.laplata.co.us/departments_and_elected_officials/administration/marijuana_licensing. Public comments on the proposed ordinance, licensing code amendments or land-use code amendments may be emailed to Kathleen Lyon at [email protected].
