Season’s Rotisserie and Grill, 764 Main Ave., will host a fundraising dinner May 28 to support the cycling team Durango Derailers and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Proceeds will go to the Durango Derailers Fund, a family-assistance fund that helps patients and their families with gasoline, lodging and food expenses when they need to travel from Southwest Colorado to Children’s Hospital Colorado. Bank of Colorado and Mountain Bike Specialists also will have a bike giveaway.

The team will ride in the 25th annual Courage Classic road-bike tour July 19-21 at Copper Mountain.

Free gardening class available

A free gardening class on “Landscape Irrigation Basics” will be taught at noon Saturday at Native Roots Garden Center, 26266 U.S. Highway 160. Participants will learn how to design and install drip- and sprinkler-irrigation systems.

Zumbathon to benefit Health Coalition

The Health Coalition of Southwest Colorado will host a Zumbathon fundraiser from 4 to 6 p.m. May 31 at the Chapman Hill Skating Rink.

The event is open to men and women. The Zumbathon will be led by more than 10 instructors from the Durango, Aztec and Farmington areas. Drawings for free classes and other Zumba-related items will happen throughout the event.

The event supports the coalition in its mission to help cancer patients undergoing treatment, with gasoline cards and grants for nonmedical expenses. All funds stay local and go to patients with any type of cancer.

Contractors yard sale to be held June 21

The Home Builders Association membership will host a contractors yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21 at Three Springs, in the park in front of 175 Mercado.

People are asked to donate any construction materials or remodeling articles removed but in saleable shape, as the proceeds of this event are shared with Habitat for Humanity.

Donations of gently used building materials or household fixtures can be dropped off at Alpine Lumber, Lewis Mercantile in Bayfield, or ProBuild.

Red Mountain extends holiday opening

Red Mountain Pass will be fully open, with single-lane alternating traffic, from 6:30 p.m. today to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

During the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic on Saturday, U.S. Highway 550 will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort and Silverton. Race organizers are stating that because of additional traffic, drivers need to leave Durango no later than 7:10 a.m. to make it past the road closure.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the work schedule will begin again until the project is completed, with completion expected before June 13.
