“Heart of Collecting: 50 Years of Collecting Southwestern Native American Art” is the theme of Judith K. Lavender’s presentation at 7 p.m. June 5 at the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, 23390 Road K in Cortez.

Lavender’s presentation, part of the 2014 Four Corners Lecture Series, will focus on her years of collecting and trading American Indian art. Admission is free.

Bayfield bank has spaces for garage sale

Pine River Valley Bank in Bayfield will have spaces available for the annual Bayfield Garage Sale on June 7.

Dolores River Festival to take place June 7

The 11th annual Dolores River Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to sundown June 7 at Joe Rowell Park in Dolores.

There will be free raft rides, river dog contest, costume river parade, children’s activities and crafts, art and dance activities, the Crested Butte Dance Collective with stilt-walkers and aerial acrobatics, vendors, education activities, live music, food and beverage.

The festival, presented by Greater Dolores Action, is an annual celebration of the Dolores River. Greater Dolores Action, a nonprofit local organization, allocates a portion of the proceeds to river enhancement, restoration and conservation projects. Admission is $15 and free for children 12 and younger. Tent camping is available in the park for $5/person and overnight RV parking for $15/vehicle. Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome.

Ride for the Cure to take place June 7

The second annual Ride for the Cure will take place June 7.

Registration will take place from 11 a.m. to noon at Durango Harley Davidson, 750 S. Camino del Rio. There will be coffee and donuts. The cost is $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the event.

The Poker Run will include Tuning Fork Cafe, Bayfield; Lone Wolf Bar & Grill, Arboles; Schank House, Vallecito Lake; and Wild Horse Saloon in Durango. The last bike will come in at 4 p.m. There will be gift bags for all registered participants, raffle, prizes and more. This is a benefit for the American Cancer Society.

“All the World’s a Stage Drama Workshop” will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. June 4 to 6. The workshop is open to children from 9 to 12 years old.

A “Fly Tying Workshop” will take place at noon June 7. Mike Minot will lead the workshop. The class will focus on caddis flies. Sign-up is required.
