True Life Coaching will start a new bimonthly group for the summer, guiding people dealing with change.

A free meeting will take place Wednesday.

People effected by changes in work, relationships, health and money will learn tools to deal with changes. Sessions will run from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from June to September.

Homebuyer education class to be offered

The Regional Housing Alliance of La Plata County offers a free monthly homebuyer education class.

The class is an eight-hour program designed to help participants purchase and own a home. Topics will include: buyer readiness, budget/financial management, credit reports and scoring, mortgage lending, working with a real estate agent, homeowners insurance, home inspections, the closing process, home maintenance and foreclosure prevention.

The class is facilitated by the alliance with contributions from local professionals, such as loan officers, Realtors and insurance agents. The June class will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 4, 11 and 18. Registration is required.

Mancos Public Library to screen film

The Mancos Public Library, 211 First St., Mancos, will present an advance screening of “The New Black” at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The film follows how the African-American community is grappling with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights issues in light of the recent same-sex marriage movement and the fight over civil rights.

High Noon Rotary to meet Thursday

The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The cost for lunch is $15. The Guatemala Rotaract Kids will present.

Trails 2000 seeks volunteers for event

Volunteers are invited to join Trails 2000 on National Trails Day on June 7 to help promote Durango Shares the Trails at Horse Gulch Trailhead from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

No experience is necessary. Volunteers will be asked to assist with the following: educate users on Share the Trails mentality, ask users to sign Durango Shares the Trails pledge, and hand out Durango Shares the Trails buttons.

Starting at Horse Gulch Trailhead on June 7, users will be asked to sign a Durango Shares the Trails pledge, after which they will receive a button designated with various trail-user types, including hiker, dog walker, mountain biker or equestrian rider.

Relay For Life Team to host breakfast

The Knights of Columbus/St. Columba Relay For Life Team will host a breakfast from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 254 East Fifth Ave.

The cost is $10 for a breakfast burrito with red or green chili, fruit, coffee or tea. The children’s plate is available for $5 and is half a burrito with fruit and milk.
