Pine River Library to release survey

The Pine River Library Board of Trustees and the library director will begin surveying area residents on Monday at the library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, and online.

The library will distribute surveys to area residents. Adults completing the survey will have a chance to win an iPad Air. Kids between the ages of 8-14 can answer the youth survey for a chance to win an iPod Touch. Residents have until July 31 to submit responses.

Road work continues on U.S. Highway 550/160

Crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation and Concrete Works of Colorado have moved south of College Drive on U.S. Highway 550 and west on U.S. Highway 160 for the next phase of construction.

Only a few minor work items remain north of College, and none are affecting traffic on U.S. 550/Camino del Rio. Single-lane closures in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday will continue on U.S. Highway 160 West. Through Monday there is a full southbound closure from 9th Street to U.S. 160 on Roosa Avenue. On Tuesday, Roosa will fully reopen for the remainder of that week. From June 9 to 17, there will be full closures of northbound Roosa. Lane shifts will occur on U.S. 550 south of the U.S. 550/160 intersection.

DHS Class of 1974 to host reunion

The Durango High School Class of 1974 Reunion will take place on Sept. 12 and 13.

The meet and greet will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Derailed Pour House, 725 Main Ave. The get-together luncheon will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave. Then the group will meet at the Old High School building for a group photo from about 4 to 4:30 p.m. The registration fee is $35 per person. Fiesta announces royalty candidates

San Ignacio Fiesta will be held July 26 and 27, and the committee announces the return of royalty candidates.

This year’s candidates are Tori Archuleta, Selena Cook, Jazmin Carmonaros and Autumn Medicen-Blanket. The goal is to sell the most raffle tickets. The winner will be crowned at the Fiesta dance at 10 p.m. July 26. The raffle drawing will be at 2 p.m. July 27.
