The Kiwanis Club of Durango will host a recruitment meeting at noon Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Guests are welcome. Lunch will be provided, and information will be given about the Kiwanis Club and what it means to be a member. There will be a presentation about how the organization helps young people worldwide. A representative from the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County also will talk about how the Kiwanis Club has supported the program throughout the years.

Trails 2000 to host trail work June 18
Trails 2000 will host trail work from 5 to 7 p.m. June 18 on the Three Springs Trail.
Trails 2000 will provide tools, instruction, water and snacks for volunteers. No experience is necessary. Volunteers should wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes, sun hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

Full-moon hike to take place Thursday night
Durango Nature Studies will host a Full Moon Hike under the Strawberry Moon from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sale Barn Trail.
The hike is free for members, $10 for nonmembers and $15 for couples. Participants will learn natural history, nocturnal animals, local landforms, and moon facts and legends.

Fundraiser to benefit acupuncture alliance
The Durango Acupuncture Alliance will host a fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Self Heal Center, 635 East Fifth Ave.
The event will include a silent auction, food, music by the Stillwater Faculty Band, spinal screenings and acupuncture demonstrations following the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. NADA treatment involves placing five needles in specific locations in the ear. Training is limited to certain health-care professionals, including acupuncturists. The Acupuncture Alliance offers free services to treat veterans suffering stress and post-tramatic stress syndrome.
Free breakfast offered at the Florida Grange
The Florida Grange, 656 Colorado Highway 172, will offer free breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
