Annual July Fourth breakfast to be held
The annual Rotary Club of Durango’s All American Gourmet Pancake Breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Friday in Rotary Park, east of Main Avenue and north of 15th Street on the Animas River.
Included will be pancakes, green chili and plain scrambled eggs, grilled ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, coffee, tea, orange juice and milk. Tickets will be available at the entrance and are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 13. Children younger than 5 are free. Tickets may be purchased from Rotary club members.
FamilyTime Yoga to take place Sunday
FamilyTime Yoga will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at InHabit, 1970 East Third Ave. in the Riverside Professional Building, Suite 110.
FamilyTime Yoga incorporates age appropriate storytelling along with yoga postures, guided breath and sound exercises, visual relaxation and arts and crafts. Parents or caregivers along with children ages 5 to 10 are invited to join certified yoga therapist Joy Kilpatrick. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar franchisees will support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation through July.
Fundraising efforts, which vary by restaurant, include donating a portion of each lemonade sale through the restaurants’ Summer Squeeze® promotion to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Applebee’s guests also may have an opportunity to donate through the purchase of a paper lemon. Applebee’s restaurants will host a variety of events, including lemonade stands, golf outings, donation nights and more.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was born when 4-year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott set up a front yard lemonade stand to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer cures. The foundation bearing her name has become a philanthropic organization in support of pediatric cancer research.

Class available on prediabetes help
Mercy Regional Medical Center will offer free education to people with prediabetes from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Suite 140 of the medical office building at Mercy.
People diagnosed with prediabetes are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Effectively managing prediabetes can help prevent diabetes. Anyone identified as having prediabetes is invited to attend a free class by Sheena Carswell and Marge Morris. Attendees will learn how to manage prediabetes and help prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

FLC will host 4th at the Fort fete
The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association welcomes all FLC alumni and their families, as well as FLC faculty and staff with their families, to the second annual 4th at the Fort celebration.
4th at the Fort takes place on the FLC Chapel lawn on Rim Drive beginning at 6 p.m. For $3 guests can partake of turkey legs, corn on the cob and foot-long corn dogs. Popsicles, cotton candy and pints from Ska Brewing Co. also will be available. All proceeds go toward FLC alumni scholarships. Rim Drive will be closed from Berndt Hall to West Campus Court Road beginning at 5 p.m. Parking on campus is free during the summer.

Salute to Veterans to honor veterans
Salute to Veterans (S2V) will honor local veterans on Friday by hanging 50 sets of custom-designed, handmade wind chimes throughout the area.
Whoever finds one is asked to give it to a veteran, with thanks for their service. One set also will have a gift certificate attached for dinner at the Red Snapper.

3k, 5k to take place in Pagosa Springs
The Star Spangled Shuffle, a 3k and 5k, will take place at 8 a.m. Friday in the parking lot opposite the Ross Aragon Community Center on Hot Springs Blvd., Pagosa Springs.
Registration will open at 7 a.m. This is a non-competitive run-jog-walk. Finishers will receive a Star Spangled Finisher’s medal. All ages and abilities are welcome, as well as leashed dogs. There will be prizes for fancy-themed dress-up. Coffee courtesy of Higher Grounds Coffee and star-shaped cookies will be available before the race. Clif Bars and drinks will be available after the race.
Proceeds from the event will go to GECKO (Giving Every Child Knowledge of the Outdoors), a local charitable organization. The cost is $15 for the 5k, $12 for the 3k and kids 10 and younger are free.
