County expands online mapping app service

La Plata County’s GIS Department now offers a new online mapping service for tablets or smartphones.

The mapping interface has some cosmetic differences from the PC version, but tablets and smartphones can access all the functions of the original map service.

The GIS Online Mapping Services allows users to search property information, view special district information for each property, view gas-production information, water well information, soil types, floodplain mapping, aerial photos, topographic mapping and more.

To access both versions of the mapping service, visit http://co.laplata.co.us/residents/e_services or http://co.laplata.co.us/departments_officials/information_technology/gis.

To use the PC version, a Microsoft Silverlight download is required; but the tablet and smartphone version does not require Microsoft Silverlight and can be used on a PC or a Mac.
