Marvel Grange to host free breakfast

Marvel Grange will host a free community breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Marvel Grange Hall, 217 County Road 133 A in Marvel.

Pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee will be served. School supplies will be collected for Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary school students. Donations of these items will be accepted: Yellow pencils (no mechanical pencils), Kleenex, boxes of Crayola broad-tip markers, black dry-erase markers, glue sticks, pencil erasers, wet wipes, sanitary wipes for cleaning desks, shaving cream cans, quart-size Ziploc bags, gallon-size Ziploc bags, wide-ruled, black marble composition books, 1-inch three-ring binder with clear, plastic pocket on the front, highlighters, scissors, graph composition books 5-inch by 5-inch 100 sheets, colored pencils, red pens, 12-inch standard rulers with centimeters and inches, wide-ruled, loose-leaf paper and wide-ruled single subject spiral notebooks (70 to 100 pages).

Free legal clinic available in Ignacio

A free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. the second Friday of each month at the Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.

By computer link, volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms and explain the process and procedure for all areas of civil litigation, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues and civil-protection orders.

County commissioner to hold office hours

La Plata County Commissioner Julie Westendorff will hold office hours for the public to meet with her from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 4 at Pine River Library Conference Room, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield.

Westendorff is looking forward to meeting with Bayfield-area residents each month about their interests and concerns.
