To celebrate and recognize the San Juan Skyway’s 25th Anniversary, a list of “25 Things To Do” is available to the public.

September events help prepare for the unseen
The American Red Cross is partnering with agencies and organizations throughout Colorado to promote emergency preparedness during September, which is National Preparedness Month.
The Red Cross urges individuals, families, businesses and organizations to take specific actions to get better prepared during September, including learning CPR and/or First Aid, making an emergency plan, practicing the emergency plan or participating in America’s PrepareAthon or one of the many preparedness-related events taking place in September.

Toastmasters to meet Fridays
Toastmasters will meet from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Fridays from Sept. 5 to May 22 at Christina’s Grill & Bar, 21382 U.S. Highway 160.
Participants will: Develop better speaking and presentation skills; learn to think quickly and clearly on their feet; build strong leadership abilities; and hone their listening skills.

Archaeological society to meet Sept. 11
The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.
Raymond Mueller will present a program on “Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction along the Rio Verde, Oaxaca, Mexico, or How Pre-Hispanic, Human Landscape Degradation Affected the Archaeology of Both the Upper and Lower Regions of a Drainage Basin.” Geoarchaeology is used to rebuild the environmental setting during some past archaeological site occupation. The public is invited.
