The San Juan Basin Health Department will sponsor a free day of transit on Saturday as part of its ongoing effort to educate about the health consequences of tobacco use.

This sponsorship hopes to empower tobacco users to quit for good with free and effective quitting resources. Ride the regularly scheduled Loop Bus Routes and the on-call Opportunity Bus within the city limits free all day. The Main Avenue Trolley is always free.

International Literacy Day held Monday

The 47th annual International Literacy Day will take place Monday to remind people that reading, writing and basic math remain an elusive target for nearly 800 million adults around the globe, including many in Durango.

In recognition of International Literacy Day, Durango Education Center asks the public to recognize the impact that literacy has in the community and refer students who might need to improve their reading, writing, math skills or attain their GED to the Durango Education Center.

For more information, visit www.durangoedcenter.org or call 385-4354.
