The Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the La Plata County Historical Society’s Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave.

After a brief business meeting, Jeannine Dobbins will discuss wills, probate, estate proceedings and other death-related documents. She will share some of the methods for finding and using these records in genealogical research. The public is invited.

Arborglyph walk to take place Sunday

An arborglyph walk will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Moonlick Park.

Arborglyphs, historic carvings on aspen trees made by sheepherders, are numerous along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway in the Moonlick Park area of the San Juan National Forest. Join Ruth Lambert, cultural program director for the San Juan Mountains Association, on an education walk to learn about these carvings. This walk is fairly level, about a half-mile long and suitable for children when accompanied by an adult.

Writing group to meet at Ignacio library

Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will host “Tweak & Critique Writer’s Group” at 10 a.m. Saturday.

On the second Saturday of each month, the library will host a workshop for writers ages 12 and older in the Community Room. Participants should bring what they are currently working on, share it with fellow writers, hear what others are writing and participate in writing activities and discussions with other writers.
