Free fitness classes are open to the public to introduce new instructors at Core Value Fitness Center, 208 East Animas Road (County Road 250).
Beginners are welcome, and no reservations are needed.
Donna Middleton will teach Zumba from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Zumba is a dance-fitness program with global rhythms.
Karla Sluis will teach Zumba from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Oct. 30, followed by PiYo from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
PiYo is a fusion of pilates and yoga that increases strength and flexibility.

Old Fort Farm Stand to be open at FLC
The Old Fort Farm Stand will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. today on the west side of the Fort Lewis College Student Union.
This will be the last farm stand until Nov. 13.
The stand will offer beef, pumpkins, garlic, kale, chard, carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, leeks, tomatillos, bell peppers, poblanos, serrano and jalapeno peppers, delicata, butternut and acorn squash, banana pepper rings, roasted green chile, roasted poblano peppers, sesame pickled radishes, garlic pickled radishes, kale chips, garlic scape pesto, arugula pesto, basil pesto, cilantro pesto, pickled garlic scapes, garlic Scape powder, deydrated onions, rutabagas and local pork products.
Quilters guild to meet today
The La Plata Quilters Guild will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road.
Quilt designer, author and teacher, Lyn Mann will present a program titled “Power Point on Borders.” The guild invites anyone who is interested in quilting to visit or become a member.

“Positive and Negative Ways Teens Cope with Stress,” a free talk, will take place at 5:30 p.m. today at La Plata Youth Services, 2301 Main Ave., in the A frame across from Durango High School.

Road surface projects announced
The city of Durango Streets Department has contracted Pavement Restoration to perform these road surface treatment projects as weather permits:
Today: East Sixth Avenue, from 1st Street to Ninth Street .
Friday: East Seventh Avenue, from Second Street to College Avenue . Third Street, Fourth Street, and Fifth Street – from Seventh Avenue to Eighth Avenue, will be surfaced.
Monday: East Fourth Avenue, from Second Street to 13th Street .
Tuesday: East Third Avenue, from Second Street to 13th Street.
Wednesday: Third Street, from East Third Avenue to Seventh Avenue. Fourth Street, from East Third Avenue to Seventh Avenue, and Fifth Street, from East Third Avenue to Seventh Street also will be surfaced.
Oct. 30: Eighth Street, from East Third Avenue to Seventh Avenue. East Fourth and Fifth Avenue, from 29th Street to 32nd Street also will be surfaced.
Oct. 31: West Second and Third Avenue, from 29th Street to 32nd Street. West 30th and 31st Street, as well as East 30th and 31st Street also will be surfaced.
Traffic delays should be expected and travelers are encouraged to use an alternate routes.
Residents will find localized parking restrictions during construction. Door hangers with construction information will be placed 48 hours in advance, and no-parking signs will be placed 24 hours in advance.
Cars parked on signed streets will be towed at owner’s expense.

Bootleggers host Pint for Pint Blood Drive
The 12th annual Durango Bootleggers Pint for a Pint Blood Drive will take place from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Hall, 878 East Second Ave.
People who donate a pint of blood, will receive a voucher for a pint of their favorite beverage at the participating breweries.
