The Columbine Ranger District plans to burn slash piles in the Tripp Gulch area near Hermosa and Vallecito area north of Bayfield, as weather allows, until the end of December.

Ignition of piles will take place at different times. The slash piles are left over from U.S. Forest Service thinning projects conducted over previous years. Pile burning operations will typically take place after snowfall for safety reasons. Firefighters will ignite and closely monitor operations, which should not affect public access or use of these areas.
