Flu shots ready at San Juan Health
San Juan Basin Health Department joins the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and others to recognize National Influenza Vaccination Week from Dec. 7 to 13.
It is not too late to get a vaccine, as flu activity usually peaks between December and February. A yearly flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months and older. Flu shots are a preventive-care benefit for children and adults covered under the Affordable Care Act.
The health department has a limited supply of specialized flu vaccine, including high-dose flu shots for senior citizens and preservative-free vaccine for pregnant women. Additionally, it has flu shots for eligible children and adults who qualify for federally supported vaccines if they are unable to receive them from their primary-care provider.
