McDonald’s will host “Breakfast with Santa” from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at McDonald’s, 201 West College Drive.
Santa will arrive by fire truck. McDonald’s will sponsor free photos with Santa taken by Benjamin Martinez. All-you-can-eat hotcakes will be available for $1 or 79 cents for people who donate an item for Project Merry Christmas. A live radio show with Four Corners Broadcasting and blanket drive also will take place.
Silverton gallery to host event
Silverton’s Blue Raven Gallery will host “December Days, Noel Nights” from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 20 at the gallery, 1301 Green St. in Silverton.
The event will feature music, refreshments and paintings of Durango artists Annie Montgomery, Mary Lou Murray and Judy deVicentes Morgan, the landscapes of Silverton painter Eileen Fjerstad, and sculptures by Ruth Carroway, Liz Paterson, Alex Spencer and gallery-owner Stephen Wolff. The Blue Raven also carries prints by Autumn Cameron, a wide selection of feather jewelry, hairpieces and art by Pete and Pat McKay of Silverton’s Sun House Gallery, the leather and silverwork of Eric Hodges, other handcrafted and fused-glass jewelry and winter hats and scarves.
Coaches, healers to hold Durango event
Some of Durango’s coaches, healers and practitioners will offer these classes at Inhabit, in the Riverside Professional Building, 1970 East Third Ave.:
“Aromatherapy: Go beyond Potpourri! Essential oils to support you this season” with Marija Helt will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Sun Room (No. 110).
“Awakening Kindness: The healing power of self-compassion” with Mindy Meiering will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Sun Room (No. 110).
Donations will be accepted at the door for the Mercy Health Foundation to benefit the Hospice Residence. Tea and water will be provided.

Craft gatherings to be held in Bayfield
Pine River Library is sponsoring monthly “Pine River Creates” days at the Pine River Senior Center, 111 West South St.
Led by card-maker and crafter Brenda Marshall, the monthly event is free and open to all ages. The “Pine River Creates” days take place at 10 a.m. the third Tuesday of every month at the senior center in Bayfield.

Bayfield library to screen films
Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, will screen these films as part of its “Unseen Christmas” film series:
The 1949 classic, “Mr. Soft Touch,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday. The film stars Glenn Ford and Evelyn Keyes.
“I’ll Be Seeing You” will be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 22.
Both movies are free and open to the public, and free popcorn will be served.

Church’s chili cookoff to benefit local family
First United Methodist Church will host a Chili Cookoff Benefit and Silent Auction for Kristen Dugan from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 2917 Aspen, off Florida Road.
The event will involve 25 teams, including some originating from local restaurants.
The silent auction will offer items from more than 40 local businesses to raise money for Dugan’s family. She suffers from cancer, and her family has longtime Durango roots and is active in the community.
