The Colorado Department of Transportation, the Colorado State Patrol and law-enforcement agencies throughout Colorado will have the final DUI enforcement period of 2014 and first of 2015, as part of CDOT’s ongoing The Heat Is On campaign to prevent impaired driving.
The New Year’s crackdown includes more DUI checkpoints and law enforcement on the streets looking for impaired drivers through Monday.

Bayfield library to screen a series of classics
The Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, will host a series of classic “Courtroom Dramas” in January.
The library will show “Twelve Angry Men” starring Henry Fonda on Monday; “Fury” starring Spencer Tracy will be shown Jan. 12; and “Witness for the Prosecution” starring Marlene Dietrich will be shown Jan. 26.
All movies will start at 7 p.m. and feature a short discussion led by local film critic Dennis Taylor.

Internet Basics for Everyone will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Participants will receive a better understanding of the World Wide Web. This class is intended for the beginner user.
Privacy and the Internet will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 13. Participants will learn how to keep themselves and personal data secure and what other people and organizations are doing with their data.
Let’s Build a Website will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 20. This class will explore the very basics of HTML and other tools used to build websites from home. No experience is required.
Libraries, eReaders, and Tablets will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 27.

Want information about our 2015 road projects?
The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center, Colorado Contractors Association and the Colorado Department of Transportation will host an informational session announcing 2015 project opportunities in Region 5 on Jan. 13 at the Durango Maintenance Training Facility, 20581 U.S. Highway 160.
Current and prospective contractors are invited to learn about projects planned for 2015 throughout Southwest Colorado. An interactive workshop specifically designed for prime contractors, DBE, SBE firms and other small business contractors will be offered.
The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a workshop for DBE- and SBE-certified businesses. Participants will learn what to expect as a contractor and how to renew an application or apply on CDOT’s online self-service portal. Participants should bring a laptop if possible. A limited number of laptops are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Upcoming projects will be announced, and lunch will be served. An afternoon session for Prime Contractors on Successful Leadership and Team Building Skills will be offered at 12:30 p.m.
