Kim Jirasart, Rotary exchange student from Thailand, will speak about his country to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Jirasart arrived in Durango in August, and he is a student at Durango High School.

Julie Westendorff to hold office hours
La Plata County Commissioner Julie Westendorff will hold office hours for the general public from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Pine River Library Conference Room, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, in Bayfield.
Westendorff will meet with Bayfield-area residents about their interests and concerns.

Genealogical society to meet Saturday
The Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Durango Community Recreation Center in the Windom and Sunlight Rooms, 2700 Main Ave.
After a brief business meeting, members will share information about their family history research and genealogical projects. The meeting will conclude with the group’s third Winter Potluck. The society will provide the main dish, drinks, and paperware/utensils. Members are asked to bring a dish.

United Way Ski Day to be held Jan. 14
United Way of Southwest Colorado announces that the annual United Way Ski Day will be held Jan. 14 at Wolf Creek Ski Area.
Tickets can be purchased the day of the event on the mountain. Adult tickets are $52, and senior and child tickets are $29. Wolf Creek Ski Area donates a portion of proceeds to local United Way agencies.
