The Manna Soup Kitchen will begin a new semester of the Manna Culinary Arts program, run in partnership with Southwest Colorado Community College.

Time bank to host introductory session
Hour Exchange La Plata, the local time bank, will host a free introductory overview of time banking and a potluck on Tuesday at St. Mark’s Church, at East Third Avenue and Ninth Street.
The introduction will take place at 6 p.m., followed by the potluck at 7 p.m. Participants will earn time credits for attending, bringing food to share and bringing new guests.

Rotary Club of Durango to meet
Physical therapist Stephanie Roberts will speak about fall prevention and balance to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Her presentation will include risk factors for falls, implications of falling, household and activity modification to avoid falls, tips to improve balance and the correlation of balance to overall health. Roberts’ talk will include examples and demonstrations of exercises and activities. Visitors are welcome.

Food-tax rebates available to residents
The city of Durango is accepting applications for the Food Tax Refund Program. Residents with a total household income for 2014 of $36,700 or less may qualify for the Food Tax Rebate.
Only full-time residents living within the city limits Dec. 31, and for the full 12 months of 2014, are eligible to file a claim for themselves and all eligible members of their household. Applications are available at Durango City Hall and the Durango/La Plata Senior Center. The application also is available at www.durangogov.org/rebates, and the form must be submitted by July 1.
Utility refunds available to residents
The city of Durango is accepting applications for the Utility Refund Program. Residents with a total household income for 2014 of $36,700 or less may qualify for the utility refund.
Only residents of the city who owned and occupied a home within the city limits on Dec. 31 and for at least 10 months of 2014 are eligible to file a claim for themselves and all eligible members of their household. The resident filing an application must have occupied property, as an owner, on which city utilities were paid in 2014.
Applications are available at Durango City Hall and the Durango/La Plata Senior Center. The application also is available at www.durangogov.org/rebates, and the form must be submitted by May 15.
