The Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave., will offer these computer workshops conducted by Jon Cordalis, The Computer Tutor, from 9 a.m. to noon:
“iPad I” will take place Tuesday. The cost is $15. This workshop is designed for new iPad owners who want to learn how to use the basic functions and applications effectively. Participants should bring their device and know an Apple ID and password.
“iPad II” will take place Jan. 29. The cost is $15. This workshop is a continuation and review of the basics workshop with emphasis on useful apps and how to get them. Participants should understand basic operations, bring their device, and an Apple ID and password.
‘A Path Appears’ to be screened free
Rocky Mountain PBS and The Powerhouse Science Center will present a free screening of “A Path Appears,” which is the second segment of “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty” in the Independent Lens series, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday inside the Powerhouse Gallery, 1333 Camino del Rio.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. The film will be followed by a conversation with local nonprofit leaders Tricia Karpfen of Shanta Foundation and Maureen Maliszewski of La Plata Thrive! Living Wage Coalition about how ordinary people can find ways to address deep problems caused by poverty globally and locally.
Group helps seniors with tax rebates
The Southwest Center for Independence will host an Aging and Disability Resources class to help file tax rebates for city and state from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Durango office, 3473 Main Ave., No. 23.

Electrical meters film to be shown Monday
Four-time award winning documentary “Take Back Your Power” will be shown from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Durango Public Library in Room 2, 1900 East Third Ave.
A discussion will follow. Admission is free. This documentary exposes the controversial issues surrounding the new electrical meters being installed throughout the community.
