“Privacy and the Internet” will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
“Working from templates in Microsoft Office” will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 10. Participants will learn how to work with templates to create things such as résumés, invoices, brochures, labels and flyers. The class requires no previous experience with Microsoft Office.
“Digital photo editing with free software” will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 17. Participants will learn about some of the free and open-source alternatives and the basics of how they work.
“Internet basics for 2015” will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 24. Participants will receive a better understanding of how the World Wide Web works. This class is intended for the beginner user.

Habitat committee solidifies dates, roles
Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County will host a Fundraising Committee meeting at 10 a.m. Friday in the Restore conference room, 120 Girard St. in Bodo Industrial Park.
The committee’s mission supports affordable home ownership in La Plata County. The committee will solidify dates, responsibilities and roles for the Hammers & High Heels and the 17th annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction events.

Knit ’n Shindig offers camaraderie, too
A longtime crocheter and knitter is offering instruction or just camaraderie from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Steaming Bean coffee shop, 915 Main Ave.
Tahlia Michelle Lewis, who also spins wool, calls the group Knit ’n Shindig. She suggests a $5 donation for use of needles or yarn and for supplying tea.

LifeGuard Banquet talks Shroud of Turin
The seventh annual LifeGuard Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Sky Ute Convention Center in Ignacio.
The keynote speaker will be author Jack Sacco, who will address the question “Is the Shroud of Turin the burial cloth of Jesus?” Directed by emcee Jim Burnham, both live and silent auction items will be featured throughout the evening. New this year will be the raffle of a Sea Doo Jet Ski. Tickets are available for $40 before Sunday and $50 after that date.

Mancos, bring your needles for knitting
A Knitting Club will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays at the Mancos Public Library, 211 W. First St.
Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Feb. 10, Feb. 24, March 10 and March 24. Adults and teens are welcome. This is a free program. Limited supplies of knitting needles and yarn are available, but participants should bring their own if possible.

One Billion Rising joins SASO activists
Sexual Assault Services Organization (SASO) will join with activists around the world for One Billion Rising from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at Buckley Park.
This is the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
