The Bureau of Reclamation’s Western Colorado Area Office announced the postponement of the negotiation meeting scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Durango Public Library.

Negotiations with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe on a proposed contract for the tribe’s statutory water allocation of the Animas-La Plata Project will continue at a later date. The contract being negotiated will provide for storage and delivery of project water and will outline the terms and conditions of operation and maintenance payments for the project.

PranaDOGS trains your dog in style

Starting this month, the La Plata County Humane Society announced pranaDOGS will provide weekly dog training classes for adults and puppies. These four-week classes provide the fundamentals for building a strong and solid relationship with your canine kids.

Admission is limited, so sign up today by calling the Humane Society at 259-2847. Cost is $75 per dog. Classes are an hour long.

Food Handler’s Safety one-day class offered

The Colorado State University La Plata County Extension Office, in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Health and Environment for Food Safety, will offer the 2015 Food Handler’s Safety Training classes at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave.

A one-day course for food-service workers that covers the basic requirements for safe food handling will include the following topics: preventing food-borne illness, food temperature control, personal hygiene, preventing cross contamination, preparing/serving food safely, cleaning and sanitizing.

Class will be held on the following dates:

Feb. 11, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

March 12, 1 to 5:30 p.m.

May 13, 1 to 5:30 p.m.

July 16, 1 to 5:30 p.m.

Nov. 19, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Each class costs $30 per person. Attendees will receive a Food Safety Works Manual and a Food Safety Works Wallet Card.

DHS Class of 1965 planning its reunion

The Durango High School Class of 1965 will have a reunion planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Ave.

The reunion is planned for Sept. 11-12.

A free “Doing your own divorce and/or custody in Colorado” seminar will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

The seminar will be presented by a volunteer attorney from Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid.
