The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio. John Barry, open ocean sailor, will present highlights of his around-the-world sailing trip.

Native Plant Society to meet Wednesday

The San Juan/Four Corners Native Plant Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lyceum Room, Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.

The presentation will be “From Desert Dust to Mountain Snow to Desert Plants.” Michael Remke will explore ideas based on research he completed at Fort Lewis College and Northern Arizona University.

Rotary to present community award

The Rotary Club of Durango will present its Community Service Award to Jerry Martinez at its meeting on Tuesday. The club honors residents who have made significant contributions to the community with this award. Applications are now being accepted for the titles of Miss Teen Colorado and Miss Colorado International 2015. The Miss Teen and Miss International Pageant will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, July 27-Aug. 2.
