Mount Everest climb to be discussed
The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present “Climb Your Own Everest: Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Noble Hall, Room 130.
On May 19-20, 2012, Jon Kedrowski was climbing Mount Everest and made his first summit attempt. Unfortunately, the weather turned violent, and he had to stop 1,000 feet from the top. On his descent, he witnessed one of the deadliest nights in the history of Mount Everest. Later that year, he overcame that experience and climbed the mountain twice more, achieving the summit on his second attempt. Participants will hear about his experience and how he trained for it, as well as the water-quality research done while he was there.
