Kiwanis Club to meet Thursday

The Kiwanis Club of Durango will host Dale Garland, teacher and sponsor of the Durango High School Student Council, at noon Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Garland will speak with the club about the programs and services this student leadership group provides to the community. Guests are invited.

Quilting workshop to be held in Mancos

The Mancos Public Library and the Dolores Mountain Quilters will offer a free quilting workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s Community Meeting Room, 211 West First St. in Mancos.

This will be a hand- sewn project using the English paper piecing method. Participants will make a pincushion. All fabric for the pincushion will be provided. Participants should bring needle, thread, thimble and scissors.

Breastfeeding workshop to be held

A breastfeeding international board certified lactation consultant, will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kids Rock, 563 Main Ave.

Library continues civic education series

The Durango Public Library will continue to offer its civic education series titled “What Do We Do?” through May.

During each “What Do We Do?” presentation, personnel from the city will explain their roles and the services their department provides for the community. Upcoming presentations will feature the Finance Department from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Tuesday. Attendees are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.

Resolving allergies to be discussed
