The La Plata County Historical Society will hold a “Members Only” open house featuring a mini-exhibit of local restaurant memorabilia from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave.
Participants will view copies of menus from iconic Durango eateries while sharing stories and memories about dining in Durango. The event is free for historical society members, the public can join the historical society at the door.

Miller to host fundraiser Monday
Miller Middle School’s fundraiser, The Miller Angel Games, will be held Monday on the school’s football field.
Students will divide into teams representing different countries and compete in various relay and minute-to-win-it games. Prior to the games, students will collect donations to help fund enrichments to curriculum, and instruction. These funds will help provide new programs, technology, and service and action-oriented projects with a student focus. The fundraising goal for 2015 is $15,000. There are visible corporate sponsorship opportunities available for this event that carry on throughout the calendar year.

A Friends of the Ignacio Community Library meeting will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the library, 470 Goddard Ave., Ignacio.

Klackers tournament to take place
The Southwest Center for Independence, a local nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live well in the community, will host a Klackers Tournament from 11:30 a.m. to 1 :30 p.m. Wednesday at 835 East Second Ave., No. 200.

Beginning beekeeping classes available
The Four Corners Beekeepers Association will present these beginning beekeeping classes:
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. March 21 and March 28 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Hall, 2500 Main Ave.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 26, March 5 and March 12 at the Ross Aragon Community Center, 451 Hot Springs Blvd. in Pagosa Springs.
The series is $45 in advance, or $50 at the door, per family. These classes qualify as apprentice-level training for the Master Beekeeper Program of the Colorado State Beekeeping Association. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. Participants will still need to take a written exam, and pass the hands-on portion of the apprentice exam, in order to pursue a Master Beekeeper Certificate.

Library to offer financial series
A free “Annual Financial Wellness Checkup” class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Tuesday to March 10 at Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive.
The three-part series will guide participants through the process of identifying what is important to their financial health and steps to take to be more financially secure. Participants will receive a binder of information with the three-part class, taught by Wendy Rice from the Colorado State University Extension Office.
