An essential oils class will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Dancing Willow Herbs.
Participants will learn which essential oils are most helpful for specific emotions.
Attendees will learn how to use the oils and get to experience each oil first hand. The class will be taught by Marija Helt, clinical herbalist and aromatherapist. There is a $20 suggested donation.

Brain injury support group to meet
The Southwest Center for Independence, a local nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live well in the community, has a brain injury support group that meets at 1:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month with the recreation piece of the group meeting at noon on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Both meet at the Southwest Center for Independence office, 3473 Main Ave. No 3.

Farm stand open at FLC
The Old Fort Farm Stand will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday inside the Fort Lewis College Student Union.
Potatoes, yellow onions, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, pestos, beet hummus, roasted poblano chiles, and dehydrated onions, grass-fed beef and local pork will be available. Parking is available at the meters east of the Student Union, and the stand accepts cash, checks and skycash.

Rock music to be discussed Thursday
The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present “Rock Music and American Generations, Part II: What Happened to Rock Music in the 21st Century and Why?” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Noble Hall, Room 130 at FLC.
Griffith will offer, with conversation and music, an overview of what happened to this pervasive genre from 1987 to the present. This will be an insightful look into the world of music radio and other distribution channels, along with present pop music genres from someone who has a long and varied career in the field.

Diversity Dialogue to be held Saturday
The Embracing Diversity Initiative will host a “Diversity Dialogue” from 8:45 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
All ages middle school and older are welcome to this free event presented by Durango High School’s Prejudice Elimination Action Team, Fort Lewis College’s El Centro and Common Ground student groups, Celebrating Healthy Communities Coalition, Alternative Horizons and the city of Durango’s Community Relations Commission.
Participants will understand how discrimination and bias impact the community and leave the dialogue with tools to take personal action.

Relationship expert plans demonstration
Relationship expert Ed Ferrigan will offer a free demonstration of somatic experiencing trauma release process for people who want better relationships from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Himalayan Kitchen in the back room, 992 Main Ave.
