The Rotary Club of Durango will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Irish music performed by the Kitchen Jam Band at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Formed in 2004 to play for Durango area contra dances, the band has created a dynamic and unique performance style drawing from worldwide influences of Celtic music. Visitors are welcome.

Party planned for teacher’s birthday

A 100th birthday celebration for Grace Erikson will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. March 28 in the Eolus Room at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Erikson’s fifth-grade class (1960) of Florida Mesa will host the celebration. Erikson is a former Durango School District 9-R school teacher. She taught at Florida Mesa, Miller Junior High and Fort Lewis Mesa Schools for more than 20 years.

LPEA to host community meeting

La Plata Electric Association Chief Executive Officer Mike Dreyspring and representatives from the LPEA Board of Directors will host an open community meeting at 6 p.m. March 24 in the south conference room of the Ross Aragon Community Center, 451 Hot Springs Blvd., Pagosa Springs.

The meeting is informal and open to all members with questions, comments and concerns.

Local AARP group to meet Tuesday

AARP Durango Chapter No. 1243 will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

There will be a Dutch lunch of corn beef and cabbage. The cost for lunch will be $10. There will be a short meeting.

The Durango High School Class of 1995 will hold its 20 year reunion on July 24 and 25.

Insomnia, chronic stress to be discussed

A class on insomnia and chronic stress will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Dancing Willow Herbs, 1018 Main Ave.

People will be provided with tools to get at the root of the issue as well as ideas for providing immediate support. The group will discuss herbs, essential oils, nutrition and lifestyle habits. The class will be taught by Marija Helt, clinical herbalist and aromatherapist. There is a $20 suggested donation.

Rob Blair Fund to benefit Nordic club

A fund has been set-up in memory of Rob Blair, an avid Nordic skier, to help support the voluntarily-run Vallecito Nordic Club in preserving and managing the trails for future skiers.
