The Durango Parkinson’s Disease Support and Education Group meets the third Thursday of every month.

Botanical Society to throw garden party

The Durango Botanical Society will host “Drawn from the Garden,” a silent auction and membership party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

The event will feature live music from Bob’s Yr Uncle, illustrations from ongoing botanical illustration classes, food, drink and a silent auction of local art and items inspired by and for the garden. Members are free or become a member or donate at the door.

Hospice of Mercy to host training days

Hospice of Mercy will offer a two-day volunteer-training course for individuals interested in becoming a hospice volunteer from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and April 18 in Conference Room A at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Hospice of Mercy, founded on a spirit of caring and volunteerism, has been providing care in the community for more than 30 years. Space is limited.

‘Tea at 10’ to focus on dementia discussion

“Tea at 10: A Discussion on Dementia” will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Sunshine Gardens 32nd Street Assisted Living, 25 Sunshine Court, off 32nd Street.

This will be an hour of conversation with others who understand.

A spaghetti dinner for the Mandy Project

Marvel Grange will sponsor a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the Mandy Project at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Marvel Grange Hall, 217 County Road 133A.

There is a $5 per adult suggested donation. The menu will include spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert and beverages.

After the dinner, Marvel Grange will present membership awards and “Minute to Win It” games.

The Mandy Project helps families of children with hearing loss obtain needed equipment and services.

Get your pet tested for free this weekend

The La Plata County Humane Society, 1111 South Camino del Rio, will perform free wellness exams for the public Saturday and Sunday.
