Thrive! La Plata County’s Living Wage Coalition will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Commons Building, 701 Camino del Rio.

The meeting is open to the public and will primarily focus on the details of Thrive!’s upcoming Spring Event on Wednesday featuring guest speaker Jeff Furman, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

Tickets available to cattlemen’s banquet

The last day to get tickets for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Banquet will be on Tuesday.

Tickets can be purchased at Basin Co-op in Durango, Wells Fargo Bank in Ignacio, Valley Feeds in Gem Village and Goodman’s Department Store in Pagosa Springs. This year’s event will include a prime-rib buffett, a silent auction, drawing for the CowBelles’ brand quilt and a live auction of a brand quilt, the naming of the Cattleman of the Year and dancing to the music of the Wild Country Band.

The banquet will be held Saturday at the Sky Ute Event Center in Ignacio. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. and serving will be at 7 p..m.

Human trafficking to be discussed Tuesday

The next 2015 Great Decision discussion session on “Human Trafficking in the 21st Century,” will be presented by Curtis Johnson, free of charge, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Great Decisions, an international affairs discussion group, is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Durango Public Library. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.

Johnson completed a 35-year career in public education. He served as a teacher and administrator at all levels, ranging from elementary school through graduate school. Since his retirement in 2002, he has been a member of the adjunct faculty in the graduate school of education at National-Louis University. Additionally, he continues to serve as an educational consultant and trainer, as well as serving as a facilitator for public employee contract negotiations specializing in Interest-based Negotiations.
