The Durango Food Bank will be distributing USDA Commodities on Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The line will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will go until the food runs out (typically by 9:30 to 10 a.m.).
Individuals interested in receiving food must bring picture ID, proof of current residency (if not current on ID) and bags/boxes for their food items.
Durango Rotary Club rolls out sea talkers
Sarah and Eric Burris will speak about the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
The society has campaigns to save the world’s oceans, including efforts to end dolphin slaughter in Japan, pilot whale hunting in the Faroe Islands, Japanese whaling in the southern oceans and more. The society performs research, such as the effects of plastic in the northern Pacific and lingering effects from BP spills in the Gulf of Mexico.
They will talk about the Burrises’ 95-day trip aboard the Steve Irwin to the coast of Antarctica. Visitors are welcome.

Plant Ponderosa Pines with youths
San Juan Mountains Association, in partnership with the San Juan National Forest, will plant Ponderosa Pine trees with Ignacio fourth- and fifth-graders Thursday.
The association is seeking adult volunteers to assist with small groups of children planting in the Vallecito area. Background checks may be required.

“What is Reiki All About?” with Laurie Gambacorta will take place Friday in the River Room (111).
“Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TREs)” with Rick Stockwell will take place April 30 in the Sun Room (110).

Siggins, Zalneraitis to talk at High Noon
The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The cost for lunch is $15.
Kerry Siggins, the CEO of Stoneage Tools, and Roger Zalneraitis, with the La Plata County Economic Development Alliance, will present “Business Community of La Plata County.”
