The annual meeting of the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rochester Secret Garden, 726 East Second Ave.
This is an opportunity for the foundation to give the community an update.
Tickets are $25 per person and are available for purchase at www. SWCommunityFoundation.org or at the door.
Guests will be treated to appetizers from Cyprus Café and music by the Lisa Blue Trio. There will be a cash bar.
All proceeds will benefit the Community Foundation.
Help Trails 2000 work on Sale Barn
Trails 2000 will host a Public Trailwork Day from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sale Barn Trail.
No experience is necessary. Trails 2000 provides tools, gloves, a safety/instructional tool talk, water and snacks.
Volunteers should wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes and a sun hat and bring sunscreen, a water bottle and a rain jacket.

County commissioner to visit Bayfield
La Plata County Commissioner Julie Westendorff will hold office hours for the general public to meet with her from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Pine River Library Conference Room, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, in Bayfield.

The Durango High Noon Rotary will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

Groups can apply for emergency funds
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded $8,194 to the La Plata County jurisdiction and $2,800 to the San Juan National Forest jurisdiction to supplement existing emergency-food-and-shelter programs within these two jurisdictions.
Under the grant terms, local agencies chosen to receive funding must: be private voluntary nonprofits with a voluntary board or units of government; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
Qualified agencies are urged to apply.

The local Emergency Food & Shelter Board will convene to review applications and allocate this funding at 10 a.m. May 13 in the Human Services Conference Room of the La Plata County Courthouse.

Dance with local stars at Strater Theatre
Community Connection’s second annual production of Dancing with the Stars will take place at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
Tickets for the 6:30 p.m. show are $15 or $20 for box seats.

Parkinson’s group provides support
The Parkinson’s Disease Education and Support Group meets from 1 to 2 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.
